Dunnellon sits where the Rainbow River meets the Withlacoochee, on sandhill country. Sand and water in the same ride is the local pattern. About 25 miles southeast of the shop, down US-41.
Every town around here rides different ground, and the ground decides what breaks. Here is what shows up on the lift from Dunnellon.
Halpata Tastanaki Preserve, 8,146 acres on the Withlacoochee River just west of Dunnellon off CR-484, is longleaf pine and turkey oak sandhill with oak scrub along the river. That is the terrain around here, and deep dry sand at low speed is the single hardest thing you can ask a CVT belt to do.
The Rainbow River runs clear for 6.5 miles from the springhead down to the tea-coloured Withlacoochee. Riders here go from soft wet river bottom to dry sandhill in one ride, which is why we see waterlogged airboxes and cooked belts on the same machine.
Dunnellon to the shop is a straight shot north on US-41, no trailering through Ocala traffic.
Halpata Tastanaki's 17 miles of marked trail are for hiking, cycling and horses. Legal OHV riding in this direction means the Ocala National Forest's permitted trail system, and that system caps unlicensed machines at 65 inches wide, which we check before fitting wide tires or spacers.
Every service below is available to Dunnellon riders and farms at the Williston shop.
Oil changes, belts, brakes, filters and a real check-over on quads and side-by-sides, done by people who ride the same ground you do.
